Marley’s Nursery

Posted on | February 15, 2010 | 9 Comments

I’ve been asked a lot of questions about Marley’s nursery, so I thought I would post the info here! I had a lot of fun putting together her room, it gave me something to do during those late nights/early mornings of late pregnancy when I was too uncomfortable to sleep well.It took me forever to decide on the bedding, I so wasn’t down with spending $500 on the Serena and Lilly one I was in love with. Who has money like that? I’m jealous.
Anyway, once I started to look around online, I found the perfect bedding and fell in love all over again. The Banana Fish Lily collection. It’s bright and fun, but sophisticated at the same time. Also, it was cheap! I found pieces of it on Ebay for $10! The line is exclusive to Target so I had to order some of it from their website as well.

Once Marley came home and it got colder outside I decided to use Pottery Barn Kids sheets, they are a very soft and cozy chamois. They are much softer and a great quality. I love them and Marley rubs her cute little face into them every night. You can see pictures of the new sheets in her more recent pictures.

I purchased the butterfly chandelier at Potter Barn Kids while I was still pregnant. I received a great tip that it was on sale online, so I raced over and hit purchase. It’s no longer available, but I have seen them on ebay a few times, or you can search Etsy for a similar one.

It took a while to decide on a paint color, we had an issue trying to make it work with the rest of our house. We live in a small 2 bedroom condo and Marley’s nursery is right off of our living room, so we wanted it to fit in with the rest of the house as well. After thinking about it for a while, I figured it wasn’t going to matter too much, it’s a little girls room, it should be bright and pretty. We decided on CIL Shy Blossom, and got painting.

I sat in the middle of the room watching my Husband painting and all of a sudden I started panicking. It was BRIGHT, I mean really bright. I told myself to give it 2 days and see if it grew on me, and it did. I totally love the color now, and I get so many people asking for the name of it. If you do not have access to CIL, give them the number #10GY 54/238 and they can make it up for you.

My favorite spot in the room. In the summer it is so pretty with all the sunshine.

Change table/dresser and night stand

I just wanted to say your nursery & name of your baby are truly a coincidence with me! I am pregnant & just settled on the nursery bedding for our little girl (bananfish lily)a couple of weeks ago. I just happened to run across your blog looking for accessories for her nursery and noticed your baby's name is Marley. We are naming our daughter Marlie! How funny is that?! Such a small world! I love Marley's nursery and my Marlie's will look very similar once it's complete! Fine minds think alike!
