J and I are doing some heavy duty research and thinking of switching to cloth diapers. ::watches as everyone stares wide eyed at me::
I know, 7.5 months old and NOW we want to switch? Well, it’s something we really wanted to do from the beginning but we just could not stomach the start up costs at the time. Recently we started having problems with the new Pampers Cruisers, she was getting diaper rash pretty bad and even started blistering at one point. I did some research and found out that there have been a lot of problems reported in regards to the new Pampers. I was horrified to see what had happened to some babies, chemical burns and really bad diaper rashes (click HERE to see) I wanted to cry, and the thought of anything like this happening to Marley just broke my heart.
We have since switched to Huggies Little Movers, but I have started further research on cloth diapering (CDing)and I have come to realize that it doesn’t have to be that expensive, there are a lot of options out there.
The least expensive is using prefold cloth diapers with a waterproof cover on top. I have found in my research that something with a little more coverage is recommended for overnight, and since Marley sleeps 12-13 hours at night I think it’s a good idea. So here is the plan of action: we are going to give it a try. God help me, this could either be awesome or bad bad BAD.
According to my research I will need the following:
- Snappis (kind of like the closure on Ace Bandages)
- 4-6 diaper covers
- 3 Pocket Diapers
- 18ish Prefold diapers (the cloth part)
So, does anyone have some experience with this? Does my plan of action sound ok? Should I be looking at a different brand?
Help a sister out, OR just give me some strength, positive CDing vibes and encouragement.
